About

Last updated October 8, 2026

PercussionDream is an independent online magazine and buying guide for percussion. We help beginners, students, parents and returning players understand their options before they buy, and get more out of their practice once they have.

What you will find here

  • Buying guides that explain what actually matters when choosing cajons, bongos, congas, djembes, drum kits, sticks, mallets and accessories.
  • Free practice tools that run in your browser: a metronome, a rudiment tracker, a rhythm generator, a practice planner and more.
  • Articles on technique, comparisons and getting started, added over time.

How we work

We write for people who are new to an instrument, so we explain terms, avoid jargon and say plainly who a piece of gear suits and who it does not. We do not publish invented prices, star ratings, awards or testing claims. Where we have not handled a product ourselves, we say so and link to current listings so you can compare for yourself. Our editorial standards and approach to choosing gear set this out in full.

How the site is funded

PercussionDream is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, PercussionDream.com earns from qualifying purchases. This never changes what we recommend. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Who writes PercussionDream

Our guides are published under a shared byline, the PercussionDream Editorial Team. We do not attach invented names, biographies or credentials to our work.
